PNG transparency is not supported by JPEG. All transparent areas will be filled with white automatically.

Convert PNG to JPG and reduce file size significantly

📉

Dramatically Smaller File Size

JPG compression can reduce PNG file sizes by 50–80% for photographic images. This makes PNG-to-JPG conversion essential for reducing image storage costs and improving web page loading speed.

🎛

Adjustable Quality

Control the JPG quality level (1–100%). Higher quality produces larger files with better fidelity; lower quality gives smaller files with more compression artefacts. Quality 80–85 is optimal for most web use cases.

🎨

Transparency Handled Gracefully

Since JPEG does not support transparency, any transparent areas in your PNG are filled with a white background before conversion — preventing the black or corrupted fill you get from naive conversions.

PNG to JPG Converter — FAQ

When should I convert PNG to JPG?

Convert PNG to JPG when: you need a smaller file size for web upload or email attachment, the image is a photograph (not a logo or screenshot with text), and transparency is not needed. JPG is the standard for photographic web images because it offers good quality at much smaller file sizes than PNG.

Why does my transparent PNG look white after conversion?

JPEG does not support transparency (alpha channel). This tool fills transparent areas with white — the standard behaviour for print and web backgrounds. If you need a different background colour, use the Image Editor tool to change the background before converting.

What quality setting is best for profile pictures?

For social media profile pictures and avatars, quality 85–90 provides excellent visual quality with file sizes typically under 100 KB. For product images on e-commerce sites, quality 80–85 is a good balance between visual quality and fast loading.
